People search “vintage furniture Denver” and land on us more than almost any other phrase. So it is worth being clear about what that word means in this building, and what it does not.
Antique is the easy one: at least a hundred years old. Vintage is anything older than about twenty years that has been used, lived with and kept because it was worth keeping. We carry both. What we do not carry is other people’s castoffs on consignment. Every vintage and antique piece here was chosen by Tony, at the source, because it was worth putting in a shipping container and bringing to Colorado.
Since October 2024, Tony has been picking through the Hungarian countryside with two friends he made on the first trip. It is not furniture he is after — it is the offshoot, one-of-a-kind things nobody else has: wooden wheelbarrows over a hundred years old, hay carts, corn huskers and other farm implements, medicine and seltzer bottles, antique sleighs, wooden skis. “What is this? What’s the story behind this?” is the reaction we are buying for.
Old Indian pieces come to us two ways. Some are genuine antiques — carved chests, doors, trunks — bought from families through a supplier whose teams go house to house across thirty-two regions. Others are made new from very old material: industrial tables and consoles built from ship flooring and the beams of demolished buildings. Nothing there is wasted, and the result is furniture with a hundred-year-old surface and a sound frame.
It is for people who want a piece that looks like it has a past, because it does — a dresser for a bedroom, a trunk for the end of a bed, a hay cart for a mountain-house entry. It is for designers who need one authentic object to anchor a room.
It is not for serious period collectors. If you are looking for a specific maker, a dated mid-century designer piece, or a dealer-mall spread of glassware and jewelry, there are Denver stores built for exactly that and we will happily point you to them. Our vintage section is about character, not provenance paperwork.
By the piece. A Hungarian seltzer bottle and a carved Rajasthan chest sit in the same building at very different prices. Because we import directly, there is no wholesaler and no showroom markup in between — you are paying for the object and the container it rode in on. Sales run several times a year; follow the Instagram and Facebook pages.
Denver is a high mountain desert, and old wood that arrives from a humid country will move. We learned that the hard way with a shipment of 125 tabletops from Costa Rica that came in too wet and had to be sanded, dried and refinished here. Everything we sell has acclimated on our floor; at home, keep antiques away from forced-air vents and direct south-facing sun, and expect a little seasonal movement in wide boards. Ask the staff about oil and wax for any piece you buy.
