Tony's Journeys / Asia

"Vietnam was the root. India was the growth."

The country where it all started. September 2010.

The Origin Story

In 2010, I got an email from a friend that said “T-Bone, you ready for your next gig?” That’s all it said.  I called his cell phone and it had an Asian ringtone. Turns out he was in Vietnam, visiting his friend Brad who had been living there for six years. Brad had sourcing contacts and an idea: start a furniture company.  I drew an end table on a napkin — wooden metal mix. We did some CAD drawings, put it in production, and flew out in September 2010. That was the first trip. Rustics Furniture Company, now doing business as Rare Finds Warehouse, was born.  Vietnam was the root. India was the growth.

What We Source in Vietnam

Everything is being made in Vietnam now. A lot of factories moved from China, and the manufacturing strength is incredible. Here's what we're sourcing:

Handmade Pottery

Some of the best artisan-made pottery in the world. We have incredible footage of their kilns, molds, glazing, and texturing processes.

Sofas & Seating

Working with a British businessman and South African designer manufacturing incredible sofas.

Bedroom Furniture

Recycled oak pieces from Les (New Zealand) and Yen (Vietnamese) — oak imported from around the world, manufactured in Vietnam

Outdoor Furniture & Fountains

For our upcoming Outdoor Oasis (Spring 2026).

Tony's Perspective

"Growing up in the seventies and eighties, Vietnam wasn't a place you'd ever think to visit. But once you go, it's incredible. The people are endlessly kind. The food is incredible. For being a communist country — if you follow the rules, you're good. I've got people on my phone now, all I do is say 'I'm coming again' and they handle my visa. People think it's challenging. It's only challenging if you believe it's challenging."

Where We Source

All our Vietnam sourcing has been in the South — Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and surrounding areas. Hanoi in the North is in the crosshairs for future trips, but that’s a whole different journey.
