Trunks served a specific purpose before storage became invisible — everything traveled in them, everything was kept in them, and the quality of the trunk was a direct statement about what was inside. The ones here carry that tradition.

You’ll find colorful trunk coffee tables where the exterior is reclaimed wood planks in layered paint colors that have been sanded back to show the history. Metal-ribbed trunks with reinforced corners and functioning latches. Carved front trunk chests from Indian workshops where the decorative work is hand-chiseled, not routed. Vintage pitara-style blue chests with hand-applied indigo finishes and original iron hardware.

Most work as coffee tables when the lid is flat enough to hold a tray. Some function as blanket storage at the foot of a bed. A few are narrow enough for entryway use where you want storage with a low profile.

Be realistic about weight. A solid wood trunk with metal hardware and a carved lid is heavy before you put anything in it. Come in to test the lid mechanism and the latch before purchasing.
